Digital print is the latest technology that is revolutionising the print industry. Using very high quality laser or ink jet printers near lithographic quality is achievable at a much lower cost.
It is ideal for:
REPORTS * NEWSLETTERS
SHORT RUN FLYERS * SHORT RUN BOOKS
GREETINGS CARDS * CALENDARS
One of the main costs in traditional lithographic printing is the "make-ready"- preparing the printing press to print the job. Printing plates need to be accurately positioned and ink levels need to be optomised, this can take some time and can waste quite a lot of paper before acceptable output is achieved. Although printing presses have made considerable advances recently, there are still makeready costs. With a digital press there is typically only one or two test prints before printing comences and there should be no waste. Also, lithographic print needs to dry before it can be handled, whereas digital print is ready to go.
There are however drawbacks to digital printing. As the quantities increase it becomes less and less cost effective, whereas lithographic print becomes more cost effective. Also there are some applications where digital print is not suitable.
